Back In Action
Phew, it’s been a while. We’re finally back from our vacation in France, GDC Europe ‘09 and Gamescom! So we’ve been going through all our mails, comments and suggestions that you’ve sent us so far. Needles to say (for better or for worse) we love all the response that we’ve received. The main criticism with the game is that it’s a bit too short. Therefore we firmly believe in making our games grow, we created something that we believe is fun, now you’ve been able to play it as well. With your feedback, Foreign Legion will grow in to something we can both enjoy even more.
Our first goal is to add a multiplayer mode, along with some additional maps. There’s a little preview of the level we’re working on right now, hope you like it! We’re going for an urban setting, something different than the open dessert theme we’ve been using so far. Such an environment allows for a lot more cover, but a lot more danger as well. Having a friend to cover your back is pretty useful in such a time…
Since our game has been available on Steam, there is also a Steam discussion forum where you can discuss your thoughts about the game, share tactics and much more. Be sure to take a look!

How can I drop you guys an email? I don’t see a contact button or something!
Cheers for the free DLC that is coming guys.

Hey Jeroen, that’s a pretty good question. I’m working on fixing all sorts of bits & bobs on the website, I’ll include our e-mail address somewhere.
You can contact us about Foreign Legion at foreignlegion@sakari-indie.com

I bought the game a few hours ago, i like it a lot, the only down point is perhaps Multiplayer gameplay .. if you have that it would improve the game a lot better, and perhaps a total of 5 missions in the game ?
and add vechiles, like a tank, chopper, and jeep ... =D
hope you have an update or a patch which adds more stuff to the game
By Sjors on August 28th 2009
have you guys got an idea of when the new update is going to be released or when you guys are expecting it to be?
By Jasien on August 29th 2009
Sorry, one more thing ...
Add another thing :
- Mini Games -
And have lil fun games like :
Chicken Slaughter - (shoot as many chickens as you can under a minute)
Zombie Onslaught - ( Player is in a house (with a friend (Co-op) Or Alone)), and zombies are attacking from all sides
Minigun Maniac - (You are equipped with only a minigun, and you gotta shoot as many civilians as you can, and you are in an office, with about 3 floors, and you just kill and kill and kill)
Those suggestions might suck, but im looking forward to mini games, such as the chicken slaughter :D

2 Words Co-Op Survival

I myself am a blender user that can model and texture decently, and I think it would be AWESOME if there was a way that we could import our own maps :). This would give the game limitless possibilities with minimal effort from you :D.

is there a change for a linux version?
By dirt1996 on August 29th 2009
Maybe pvp?
By emusan on August 30th 2009
Wow, thanks for listening to everyone’s suggestions, I know how hard it is to create a working multiplayer service, so if you succeed my hat is off to you. I just purchased this game after seeing this post, finally a game company that truly listens to their community, and updates their game instead of making people pay for a whole new one. Thanks.

While your updating it, would it be possible to add a few more Steam Achievements, they’re really quite fun, but the first 10 were a bit easy(just one left after playing for 1.5 hours).

I Think That Endless Survival Mode is Necessary! Something like Nazi Zombies or The Horde on Gears of War 2.

It runs fine with Wine in Ubuntu 8.10 on my laptop!
We’re using Steam as distribution platform:

If you want our game engine to run on Linux, please bug the people at www.unity3d.com, because we would like this too! =)

Hello! Are there any patches to the Foreign legion?
By kidflawless on September 2nd 2009
Are you guys going to constantly update this game. If so how. This game would rock if it had multiplayer.
By sakari_indie_is_awesome on September 4th 2009
u guys rock r u guys going to patch some stuff and add new features. Answer ASAP
By Jasien on September 5th 2009
Also I had yet another great idea, once you added all those updates (multiplayer, vechiles, more missions etc) Then if the overall game is succesfull i thought .. why not make another one :)
Foreing Legion: City of the Dead
were basically in campaing mode there is a man and a woman (you can choose to be either one) and so if your a man woman is AI and the same the other way round, basically its in a city, (flipped over cars, burning cars etc broken windows/doors etc) ZOMBIE STYLE CITY, and you gotta survive for 100 days till the “convoy” or something arrives, you can choose 3 difficulites and also 4 different lenghts :
Short - each day is 3 minutes
Medium - each day is 7 minutes
Long - each day is 15 minutes
EXTREME ! - each day is one hour
So you can also save game (or else it would take years to complete campaing)
this is just a suggestion if you think it sucks .. fair enough I mean, not all my suggestions rock ... but if you like it :) IMPLEMENT IT ! :)
Thanks :)
By Jasien on September 5th 2009
Also forgot to say ... Add stuff like Turrets as in ... .50 Cal somehwere on a roof top, and also add jeeps (i mean you dont have to add vechiles as in tanks etc) just by adding a simple jeep ( 3 people : driver, passenger, gunner at the back) have that and it will improve too ! I dont know if it has been suggested but .. its worth a shot :)

Hey like most people posting here we love the game but hate the shortness. Glad to see work on some new surroundings for us to indulge in. Honestly may it be known, I didn’t expect a Multi-player/Co-op addition to be considered in this game, but I am increasingly grateful for your efforts in creating the greatest (In my POV) Indie Game EVER! In my opinion it surpasses WOG and such-like games. Thank-you and good-luck with the sales of your first produced game!

I think that it would be really cool if you were able to release a map making program so people would be able to make their own maps.
By Andrew on September 23rd 2009
one other cool idea i had for you guys, is have you played the game storm the house? Well you should make a game mode where you had to buy new weapons and upgrades and stuff like that. Make it so you start with a pistol and make the waves harder and so on and you have to buy newer weapons. Plus i am not sure if it would be hard or not, but adding some turrets would be cool, and adding enemy helicopters and that would be cool. You should also have a last stand style game mode where you can play with AI or play with other humans, and have like 4 people and have an endless game and see how long you last for.
And IMHO i think there needs to be a greater variety in weapons, i love the game but using the same guns over and over and over gets kind of repetative .
By Harrison on September 26th 2009
I loved the demo, not enough to buy it though.
This multiplayer mode might change my mind. Good luck. :)

What are the chances of adding in a map editor so the community can help with the creation of new content?
By Journeyman on October 12th 2009
As neat as a map editor would be I don’t see how it would be feasible.
The urban level looks excellent, whether or not the buildings are accessible I’m curious as to how they might effect gameplay, even simply in how they would obscure vision.
